A sea wave keeps its translucent color being piereced by the last rays of the sun at the dusk.
As a child, I remember being impressed by a lyrical and deeply symbolic painting of the Russian painter Vassilyev "The Man with the Eagle Owl". Now, I am paying homage to this great picture. The prototype for the wonderful face of the bearded man is the Ukrainian painter Lev Skop, whom I saw in the news lines from the Maidan in Kiev in dramatic February 2014.

For a long time I've been looking for a combined motive of mountains and sea. I've found such a mountain named Fitz Roy at the lake Viedma in Argentina. It's a dramatic scene with heavy red sky, the proud rocks of Fitz Roy on the horizon rising above the wild waves of lago Viedma. I've done this painting mostly with a palette knife as there is no better instrument to express the edged stones of a mountain and the spindrift of an effervescent lake.
The winter is over and I am longing for more sun. This sunny scene depicts the alley, I live in. A very long street rimmed by old trees throwing chilling shadows in hot summers and constantly rustling with their rich green foliage.
This guy I met on my trip to Cuba in 2008. He was a tobacco farmer in the Viñales Valley in the Western Cuba. He showed me the area riding on some haggard horses and told me some deplorable stories from Cuban farmer's life. He never left the self rolled cigar off his mouth, and each time one was burnt the next big tobacco leaf has been stuffed and rolled.
